Cohousing communities are intentional, collaborative neighborhoods. They bring together the value of private homes with the benefits of more sustainable living. That means residents actively participate in the design and operation of their neighborhoods, and share common facilities and good connections with neighbors. The US Cohousing web site offers more information including the six defining characteristics of cohousing.
Who We Are
Wissahickon Village is a cohousing community in Northwest Philadelphia PA. Our goal is to create an urban home in Philadelphia woven into the surrounding neighborhood, committed to sustainable living and intentional community. We're currently in conversation with Ken Weinstein about developing the non-sanctuary part of the Mt Airy Presbyterian Church building into cohousing.
To learn more about us come to an informal cohousing information session 1st Wed 5-7 pm, 2nd Mon 1-3 pm, or 3rd Sun 2-4 pm at Mt Airy Read & Eat. All meetings and social events are listed on our Upcoming Events page. If you can’t make one of these contact us and one of our members will follow-up with you.
